How Long Does it Take to Build a Natural Swimming Pool?

If you would like to be swimming in your very own natural swimming pool by next summer, now is the time to be getting in touch with us. Once the decision has been made to build a swimming pool there is a definitive process to go through in order to make the idea manifest.

Step 1: Get in touch with The Natural Pool Company

This can be done through our website www.thenaturalpoolcompany.com

Step 2: Design your pool (2-4 weeks)

A Client Design Questionnaire (CDQ) will be sent to you to fill in. This is a simple, quick, but very targeted questionnaire to establish what it is you are looking for in a natural swimming pool. After this has been filled out The Natural Pool Company will get back to you with a design specification phone call and put a guide price together based on the outcome of the call. If you are happy to proceed The Natural Pool Company will put together detailed design drawings of your very own natural swimming pool for you to approve.

Step 3: Planning (4-12 weeks)

Once all designs have been finalised they will be submitted to the local planning department for approval. Depending on the area you live in this can take anything up to 3 months.

Step 4: Ordering your pool (0-6 weeks)

Depending on the type of pool shell decided upon in stage 2, this will make a difference to the time of manufacture and delivery. The shortest being a standard block pool where a standard builders merchant will most likely have the block and steel in stock, ranging all the way through to a bespoke, one piece, pre-insulated fiberglass pool which will take anything up to 6 weeks to be made.

Step 5: Construction (2-8 weeks)

Similarly to step 4 this depends greatly on the choice of pool shell decided upon in stage 2. A one piece pool will take 2-3 weeks to install inclusive of dig, muck away, back fill, plumbing and electrics but a block work and steel structure would be more in the range of 4-8 weeks depending on the size and complexity of the structure.

Step 6: Decking, landscaping and custom finishes (1-? Weeks)

There are endless variations on pool finishes from a simple deck to an outdoor kitchen, pool house, bar, games rooms etc. Some people also like to have their pools covered and The Natural Pool Company can also offer a bespoke building design and build service.

As can be seen from the above steps, the whole process from start to finish can range from 10-24 weeks depending on the variables and choices made along the way. This makes it very important to open lines of communication with The Natural Pool Company about your natural swimming pool as soon as possible.
